Getting to Class
Biking is a great way to get around town and to class on time. Savannah is a great place to own a bike, it’s nice and flat, you never have to look for a parking spot and you get a little bit of exercise all at the same time. We have several great options available here at Perry Rubber Bike Shop that will get you to class and the grocery store.
Kona Dew
The Dew is our classic all-around commuter/townie option for someone looking for an affordable, comfortable ride. The Dew is an efficient bike that features a drivetrain with a broad gear range and integrated brake and shifter levers. It’s available in two colors so you can pick the bike that best suits your style. Equal parts functional and fun, the Dew is equally at home hopping curbs on urban rides, cruising the bike paths, or rallying your local taco truck time trial.
Cannondale Adventure
From class to the office, and the greenway on the weekend, the Adventure is ready to bring comfort to your ride, and a smile to your face. It’s built to go anywhere and up the comfort for easy-riding, while thoughtful design makes it just as simple to store as it is to ride.
Cannondale Treadwell
The all-new Treadwell is designed to bring a bit of fun and style to the daily runaround. It’s a light, simple, responsive bike for rolling around, meeting up with friends, and getting from here to there with that feeling of freedom that only two wheels can give.

Lights
Georgia law requires a front headlight and a rear reflector on your bike in order to ride after dark. We highly recommend a light for both front and back. Savannah is a beautiful town, but we have a lot of distracted drivers and we want them to be able to see you, a flashing light will make them take notice. Also have you noticed how dark it gets on certain streets, great mood lighting but not so great for getting around. A powerful and rechargeable light is the answer. And last we heard the ticket for riding without a front light after dark was $75. We have a great selection of lights to fit everyone’s lumen and budget needs.
Helmet
We always recommend wearing a helmet. If you are over 16 you are not legally required to wear a helmet in Georgia but we highly suggest it. We offer a lot of great helmet options, and the great part is you get roughly the same level of safety no matter the cost. Our favorites to wear while biking around town are:
Smith Express MIPS

Lock
Savannah is a beautiful town but we have very creative/ opportunistic bike thieves. In order to combat/deter the bike thieves we recommend investing in a high quality bike lock. Although no bike lock is 100% unbreakable the goal is to not be an easy target. We recommend taking your bike inside at night but if this is not an option we have a few great lock styles to choose from.
The U-lock
U-locks are a great option to secure your bike. We always recommend securing your frame and if possible your back wheel. The lock shown also has an extra cable to secure the front wheel. This lock has a key entry and will work well with most frame styles.
The Chain Lock
The chain lock provides equal protection as the u-lock but with a bit of added flexibility. Because this is essentially a steel chain in a cloth bag it provides the flexible to fit larger bike frames while still ensuring security. This lock uses a re-settable combination and is great for people who loose keys.
We understand a bike is an investment and we want to help you protect it. We caution against using thin cable locks for OVERNIGHT use. A lot of thin cable locks can be cut quickly with bolt cutters. Protect your bike, get a good lock!
Rack / Basket
As an student or commuter you are going to need to carry your things back and forth to class and one of the easiest ways is with a bike basket or rack. We have a great variety of options to fit most bike styles, and if we don’t have what you need in stock we are more than happy to order it for you.
Repairs
We offer a full service repair shop on site. We work on most makes and models of bikes and can do everything from fixing a flat, checking the safe ride-ability of a Craig’s list purchase, to maintaining the highest end of racing machines.
